SMITH, Morgan Eugene

SMITH, Morgan Eugene

Morgan Eugene Smith
August 17, 1969 – December 3, 2025

Morgan Eugene Smith was born on August 17, 1969, at Daniel Freeman Hospital in Los Angeles County to Lynne Harriett Eldridge Smith and Morgan Frances Smith. He spent his early childhood in Manhattan Beach before moving at 18 months to the Santa Cruz area. He later attended Los Gatos High School, where his athletic talent became unmistakable. Morgan excelled in soccer, baseball, and golf; but even more than winning, he loved the camaraderie, the competition, and the pursuit of excellence.

As a young man, Morgan’s life was anything but conventional. He modeled in Milan, worked in Hong Kong, and ultimately chose experience and action over a traditional college path. He believed in building, learning, and doing. That belief defined his career.

Morgan began his professional journey with Hyatt before moving to Chicago and joining Nextel Communications. There, his relentless drive and ability to form authentic executive relationships quickly distinguished him as one of the company’s top performers. He negotiated and closed major federal contracts, including a landmark agreement with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and played a key role in establishing Nextel’s Government Account program and international partnerships, including Vodafone. He consistently exceeded quotas — often by extraordinary margins — earning recognition such as the prestigious “Make It Happen” award.

Throughout his career, Morgan launched and scaled new ventures across multiple industries. He thrived in tech sales, owned and operated restaurants, managed UFC fighters, and partnered in the fashion start-up AndrewMorganFashion.com. He most recently poured his energy into TDC Technologies and RytePayments, where his commitment to clients and partners remained unwavering. He was known for making things happen — not someday, but today.

On October 2002, Morgan married the love of his life, Shannon Lee. Together they built a 23-year marriage grounded in faith, loyalty, and partnership. They were blessed with two daughters: Shaylin (born 2004) and Sheridan (born 2005), who were the greatest joys and proudest accomplishments of his life. Morgan was an all-in father — present, energetic, coaching from the sidelines, traveling the world, giving life lessons, and somehow still having reserves left to mentor and encourage others.

Morgan’s life was marked by extraordinary energy. He was disciplined, selfless, deeply faithful, and rarely in a bad mood. He invested in people personally. He did not have social media because he preferred real conversations, real follow-up, and real relationships. He took genuine interest in others and remembered what mattered to them. Many describe him as one of the most positive and encouraging men they ever met.

On December 1, 2025, Morgan suffered a catastrophic brain hemorrhage caused by a congenital arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Despite exceptional medical care at Providence Mission Hospital, the damage to his brain stem was irreversible, and he was declared brain dead on December 3. In accordance with his wishes as a registered organ donor, Morgan gave the gift of life on December 6, 2025, potentially impacting up to 17 individuals. In death, as in life, he gave generously and without hesitation.

Morgan was a man of deep faith who believed in serving others. He dedicated time and leadership to causes close to his heart, including Milele Home, serving street youth in Kenya, and Rise For One, creating opportunities for youth soccer players.

Morgan is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Smith; his daughters, Shaylin and Sheridan; his mother, Lynne Doyle; his brother, Jason; and a vast community of friends, mentees, business partners, teammates, and family members whose lives he shaped in profound ways.

A Celebration of Life was held at Mariners Church in Irvine, California on December 13, 2025. The service reflected exactly who Morgan was: uplifting, energetic, meaningful, and anything but ordinary.

Morgan’s life was not defined by the day it ended, but by the thousands of days he chose to show up – endlessly energetic, productive,  faithful, disciplined, generous, unstoppable.
