Rob Roy Hilton

Rob Roy Hilton

In loving memory of Rob Roy Hilton. Rob was born on October 23, 1934 and passed away on June 27, 2020. Entrusted to the care of Cremation Society of Orange Coast, (800) 678-0669.

Its with a heavy and sad heart that we learned that my Dad, Rob R. Hilton passed away peacefully and quietly near his home in Fullerton, CA on Saturday June 27, 2020 at 8:10 pm.  For those who knew him only as the jovial and spry silver haired fox at our family gatherings and Christmas parties he was also an extraordinary and kind soul who traveled the world in a sailboat that he built, was a successful entrepreneur and handyman, pilot, racer, sailor, friend, father, husband and companion.  The world feels a little darker, and the stars a bit dimmer without him here.  My mom and I, and everyone who knew him well will miss him immensely.
Dad, may you always have sun on your face and a strong wind at your back.
Love, your son, Ryan

Thank you to so many of you for the unbelievable amount of support, cards, flowers, dinners brought to our doorstep and outreach after the passing of my Dad.  My Mom and I are both so grateful and humbled.  In notifying friends and family of his death, and the many people that socialized, worked with, and knew my Dad we’re taking solace in the fact that he was well loved and had affected so many people during his lifetime; the stories and admiration have been beautiful, uplifting and funny as we’ve mourned his passing over the last week.
As for my Dad, his final wish was to be cremated and his ashes spread at sea where he spent many years sailing and exploring.  Further more, some of his ashes will be spread on the Bonneville Salt Flats where he timed numerous world records as an official for the SCTA and helped various racing teams as a driver and a crew member.  For some of you who have asked about a service or celebration of life, we’ll be holding a party and remembrance when the pandemic has subsided.
Ryan Hilton
