Preston KingKing, Preston “PK” Mc Cauley, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2013 at his home in Huntington Harbour, CA.

Preston was born on April 30, 1934 in Los Angeles, Ca to Bernard and Gertrude King. Preston attended Menlo-Atherton High School in Northern California. He then served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. After his return to the states, Preston attended Pasadena City College where he met and married his wife, Merle Plaiss in 1957. Preston and Merle raised their two Children, Kathy and Dave, in San Marino, Ca where he was an honored member of the San Marino Masonic Lodge. Preston’s leadership role as the Vice President of J.E. Wells Insurance was instrumental in the success of the company and gave him the goal to have his own company. In 1973,, Preston purchased B.I.G. Enterprises, Inc, a custom manufacturing company. Over the past forty years, he and his family, who he employed, built the company into a highly respected leader in it’s industry.

In the early 80’s, Preston and Merle moved to Huntington Harbour where they were able to fulfill their dream and build a custom house big enough to embrace all the family and grandchildren. Their favorite past time, was to fish on their custom sportfishing boat, the “Reel Time” with their family and friends. In 2004, his wife, Merle, passed away.

In 2010, Preston married Becky Rankin of Toronto, Canada. This love brought a new dimension to his life as he began to travel more and became an avid golfer at PGA West in La Quinta, CA, where he and his wife enjoyed their vacation home.

Preston was the Past President of the Huntington Harbour Rod and Reel Club where he won the Master Angler Billfish Tournaments back to back. He was an enthusiast of classic cars and model airplanes which he would build and fly with the Harbour Soaring Society. He was a proud man who was always willing to help out a friend in need. His pride and joy were his family and especially his grandsons to whom he showed how to work hard and live life to the fullest.

Preston is survived by his wife, Becky Rankin King; his children, Kathy King Crooymans and David King, his wife, Erin Douglass King; his grandsons, Daniel, Jeffrey, Preston, Cameron, and Braden; his great grandchildren Jordan and Preston; his step daughters Ashley Brissette and Christy Brissette both of Toronto, Canada.

A Celebration of Preston’s Life will be held at the Balboa Bay Club, 1221 West Coast Hwy in Newport Beach, on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 2:00pm. All friends are invited to attend.
