David and I will never forget how you managed to make it to New Mexico for our wedding even as your dad was so sick and dying. You were my friend, our family’s friend and a good pal to our son, Joaquin — he loved the aliens in the bed. I will miss our talks and our shared memories of those crazy days in Ivey Hall. To the entire Voight family, from the Gomezes, our condolences.

Ours was a friendship at first sight and I will cherish my memories of you, Andrea – a car ride from Austin to San Angelo on an October night, listening to baseball and talking about everything and nothing at all; eating an Asian pear while watching The Graduate; a dinner while on break at work, both of us slightly bewildered that we had found a fast friend just as you were leaving to go to Columbus and I was starting at the Standard-Times. I am grateful for the talks and letters and visits that followed. I will miss you dearly.
